“I am from Japan.”
“Oh my gosh, I’m in love with SUSHI!”
When we decided to make our third Down-to-Earth Dinner with the Japanese themed, we agreed upon that we would not offer sushi, because sushi seems to be overhyped here and people should try other Japanese dishes. (Do not get me wrong tho! Sushi is great and I like it.)
Also, people often ask me how I cook Japanese food without fish. Yes, it is true that fish is used a lot in Japanese cuisine, but there are plenty of plant-based Japanese dishes!
I am happy to introduce some of them here.
We modified some of the recipes, considering what we can get here in the Netherlands.
Enjoy your beautiful Japanese plant-based meals!
Side/Main
Beet onigiri with walnut miso
Chickpea Omelet (tamago-yaki style)
Dessert
Red bean jelly (we made red bean paste first.)
Matcha ice cream (we added matcha powder!)
Roasted green tea fused cake (we substituted roasted green tea into Earlgrey in this recipe)
Drink
Japanese Green tea (you can see many different types of tea here.)
Itadakimasu,
Bon appetit,
En eet smakelijk!
